The room
Palms Royale, formerly Palms Merkur Royale, is the largest casino in Sofia, with around thirty gaming tables in the Millennium Center on Vitosha Boulevard. The poker room spreads Texas Hold’em at €1/2 and €2/5 and Pot-Limit Omaha at €2/2 and €5/10, with higher tables arranged on request and private games available. Because it is the only room in the city of this size, it absorbs most of the Bulgarian live action.
Tournaments
The casino runs its own Palms Royale Poker Series and hosts a Vienna Poker Tour stop, which is the largest tournament in the Bulgarian calendar. Structures and guarantees are published by the venue and the tour; we link rather than reproduce them.
Practical details
Vitosha Boulevard is the pedestrian street running south from the city centre towards the mountain, and the casino is at its far end near NDK, walkable from most central hotels and on the metro at that end. Entry is free, the minimum age is 18, and a passport or ID card is checked at the door. Since January 2026 Bulgaria has used the euro, so buy-ins and blinds are quoted in euros rather than leva. Sofia is cheap by European standards, which is a large part of why its festivals fill up with visitors from Romania, Greece and Turkey.
