Playground opened in 2010 as a poker room first and grew into a full gaming venue around it. The poker floor runs 44 tables around the clock, which makes it the largest dedicated poker operation in Canada, and cash games are the backbone: no-limit hold’em across a wide range of stakes, with pot-limit Omaha and mixed games appearing when there is demand. The rest of the building holds gaming machines, restaurants and an events hall used for the big festivals.
Festivals
Playground is the Canadian stop for several international tours and has hosted WSOP Circuit rings, World Poker Tour events and partypoker LIVE festivals, plus its own Winter Classic and similar in-house series. Dates change every year, so the schedule lives on the venue’s own site.
Licensing and location
Playground is a Mohawk-owned venue on Kahnawake territory and is licensed by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission, not by Loto-Québec. In practice this makes no difference to a visitor: it is a licensed, regulated room. It is at 1500 Route 138, immediately south-west of the Mercier Bridge, roughly 20 minutes by car from downtown Montreal, with free parking on site and no public transport worth using late at night.
Practical details
Minimum age is 18 and a government photo ID is required. Games are in Canadian dollars. There is no online poker brand attached to the venue.
