The room

The Casinò di Sanremo is one of only four municipal casinos in Italy, housed in a Liberty-style building above the seafront that has been operating since 1905. Poker is played in the Sala De Sanctis, the room set aside for American games and Texas Hold’em, where both tournaments and cash games run. Larger fields move into the Privè and Privatissimo rooms, which are the spaces the national and international tours use.

Tournaments

Sanremo has hosted the Italian Poker Tour and European Poker Tour events over the years and takes the Italian stop of the WSOP International Circuit in the late autumn. The casino and the tour publish the structures and dates. The calendar changes every season, so we point at theirs.

Practical details

The traditional games rooms open in the early afternoon and close between half past two and four in the morning, depending on the day. You need to be 18 and to show a valid original identity document at the door. A dress code applies in the table-games rooms. Games are in euros. The town sits on the coastal railway between Genoa and the French border, and Nice airport is about an hour away. The field usually mixes Italian regulars with players from the Côte d’Azur.
