The room

Casino Malta by Olympic opened in 2016 at Eden Place on St George’s Bay, inside the InterContinental hotel complex, and is the largest casino floor on the island: roughly 3,000 square metres with 29 casino and poker tables, 285 slots and a sports betting area. It is run by Olympic Entertainment Group, the operator behind the Olympic and OlyBet casinos across the Baltics.

Tournaments

Poker here is tournament-led. The room hosts the Battle of Malta, the festival that made Malta a fixture on the European calendar, and takes a WSOP Circuit stop; it also runs its own monthly events between series. For everyday cash-game action Portomaso Casino a few hundred metres away is the more reliable option, and travelling players usually treat the two rooms as one destination.

Practical details

The casino is open 24 hours. Entry is free and registration on the first visit needs a passport or photo ID; visitors may play from 18, while Maltese nationals must be 25. Games are in euros and the tables are run in English. St George’s Bay is walkable from most of the Paceville and St Julian’s hotels, and about twenty minutes by taxi from the airport.
