How licensing works

Ontario is the only Canadian province with an open online market apart from Alberta, which launched in July 2026 without a poker room so far. Operators register with the AGCO and sign an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario. The pool is ring-fenced to Ontario residents.

The market

GGPoker Ontario has the largest pool. PokerStars relaunched in June 2026 as “PokerStars exclusively on FanDuel”. BetMGM, bwin and partypoker Ontario share one network, and 888poker Ontario runs its own. Everything changes if the Supreme Court permits international liquidity later this year.

Frequently asked questions

Is online poker legal in Ontario?

Yes, since April 2022 with operators registered with the AGCO and contracted by iGaming Ontario. The minimum age is 19.

Can Ontario players join international pools?

Not yet. The Ontario Court of Appeal ruled in November 2025 that international pooling is lawful, but the lottery corporations of other provinces appealed and the Supreme Court hears the case on 7 October 2026.

Why are there no bonus offers here?
