How licensing works

SRIJ, part of Turismo de Portugal, licenses online operators per game type. The register lists around twenty brands, but poker is a small category: high tax on gross revenue kept most networks away, and only three rooms operate.

The market

PokerStars.pt is the busiest room thanks to the three-country pool. ESC Online is the online brand of the Estoril Sol group, which also runs the live rooms at Casino Estoril and Casino Lisboa.
